Benefits of Annual Boiler Service Near You in Levittown, NY

Like most property owners in Nassau County, you probably rely on a boiler to warm your home and heat your hot water. Every time your thermostat flips on, or you turn on a shower, you have your boiler to thank for producing the heat and hot water you feel.

Since you rely on it so often, routine boiler maintenance is an absolute must. According to experts, you should have your boiler serviced at least once a year. But why? Here’s a look at some of the reasons why regular oil or gas boiler maintenance is so important.

Detect and Correct Issues

You use hot water year-round, and in the cold Nassau County winters, you flip on the thermostat to keep you warm; in other words, your boiler is in constant use. Over time, the components can experience wear and tear. By having a reputable company that specializes in boiler service near you inspect the appliance on a yearly basis, any minor issues can be detected and corrected before they become major problems.

Increased Comfort

There’s nothing worse than discovering that you’re out of heat or hot water. Since a Nassau County boiler maintenance professional can detect issues before they become major problems, which can help to prevent a complete breakdown that could potentially leave you without heat and hot water for a period of time.

Plus, a company that specializes in boiler services can improve the efficiency of your boiler so that it continues to function at full capacity. These two factors combined can help to ensure the comfort of your Levittown, NY home.

Improved Energy Efficiency

The more your boiler works, the more wear and tear it experiences. As components start to wear out or break down, the appliance needs to work harder in order to heat your Levittown, NY home, as well as your hot water, and the harder it works, the more fuel it consumes. Routine boiler maintenance improves the function of your boiler, and it also maintains the efficiency of the appliance. This means the boiler installed heats water better without the pilot light having to use more fuel.

Cost Savings

Regular boiler service can help you save a significant amount of money. Minor problems can be fixed before they become something major, which means maintenance can help avoid expensive repairs and the high costs that are associated with them. And, because routine boiler maintenance will improve your home’s energy efficiency, your utility bills will be lower as your appliance won’t burn through as much fuel.

Improved Safety

While generally a safe appliance, if a boiler isn’t functioning properly, it could become a safety hazard. For instance, if you have a gas boiler, hidden issues could lead to a gas leak that could pose serious dangers, such as an explosion or even carbon monoxide poisoning.

An experienced Nassau County company that offers boiler services near you will make sure that the appliance is functioning properly and will identify any problems that may have otherwise gone unnoticed and fix them before a potentially dangerous situation arises. Having your boiler serviced by a reliable company like ours means you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your Levittown, NY home – and your family – will be safe.

Keeps Your Warranty In-Tact

A warranty on your boiler can help you save a lot of money, but usually, in order to keep the warranty valid, you’ll need to have the appliance serviced at least once a year. If you fail to have it maintained, your warranty could become null and void.

Make sure to check the conditions of the warranty in your Nassau County home; if it needs to be serviced annually, make sure that you make arrangements with a reputable boiler maintenance professional on time so you don’t end up having your contract nullified.

Levittown is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. It is located halfway between the villages of Hempstead and Farmingdale. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a total population of 51,881, making it the most populated CDP in Nassau County and the second most populated CDP on Long Island, behind only Brentwood.

The building firm, Levitt & Sons, headed by Abraham Levitt and his two sons, William and Alfred, built four planned communities called “Levittown”, in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico; the Levittown in New York was the first. Additionally, Levitt & Sons’ designs are featured prominently in the older portion of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; Vernon Hills, Illinois; Willingboro Township, New Jersey; the Belair section of Bowie, Maryland; and the Greenbriar section of Fairfax, Virginia.

The Levitt firm began before World War II, as a builder of custom homes in upper middle-class communities on Long Island. During the war, however, the home building industry languished under a general embargo on private use of scarce raw materials. William “Bill” Levitt served in the Navy in the Seabees – the service’s construction battalions – and developed expertise in the mass-produced building of military housing using uniform and interchangeable parts. He was insistent that a postwar building boom would require similar mass-produced housing, and was able to purchase options on large swaths of onion and potato fields in undeveloped sections of Long Island.

Returning to the firm after war’s end, Bill Levitt persuaded his father and brother to embrace the utilitarian system of construction he had learned in the Navy. With his brother, Alfred, who was an architect, he designed a small one-floor house with an unfinished “expansion attic” that could be rapidly constructed and as rapidly rented to returning GIs and their young families. Levitt & Sons built the community with an eye towards speed, efficiency, and cost-effective construction; these methods led to a production rate of 30 houses a day by July 1948.They used pre-cut lumber and nails shipped from their own factories in Blue Lake, California, and built on concrete slabs, as they had done in a previous planned community in Norfolk, Virginia. This necessitated negotiating a change in the building code, which prior to the building of this community, did not permit concrete slabs. Given the urgent need for housing in the region, the town agreed. Levitt & Sons also controversially utilized non-union contractors in the project, a move which provoked picket lines. On the other hand, they paid their workers very well and offered all kinds of incentives that allowed them to earn extra money, so that they often could earn twice as much a week as elsewhere. The company also cut out middlemen and purchased many items, including lumber and televisions, directly from manufacturers. The building of every house was reduced to 26 steps, with sub-contractors responsible for each step. His mass production of thousands of houses at virtually the same time allowed Levitt to sell them, with kitchens fully stocked with modern appliances, and a television in the living room, for as little as $8,000 each (equal to $92,721 today), which, with the G.I. Bill and federal housing subsidies, reduced the up-front cost of a house to many buyers to around $400 (equal to $4,636 today).

FAQ

If the job is a straight boiler swap, it will take 4-6 hours to complete. If you need to change the position of your boiler or changing the type of boiler you have, the job will take between 1-4 days.

Boilers are best located in your home’s kitchen, utility room, basement, garage, or loft. It is important as a homeowner to know where your boiler is located as in many homes they are usually hidden away or in a discreet part of the house.

You can install a boiler in a bedroom as long as it is room sealed. This means that it takes the air it uses for combustion from outside, and expels its waste air outside also. A room sealed boiler won’t emit fumes into the room, making it safe to be installed in a room where people sleep.

It is important to know when your boiler may need to be repaired. A boiler is dangerous when the following occur: a gas smell when the boiler is running, scorching or brown marks on the boiler, a musty smell or signs of soot, increased condensation on your windows. All these indicators suggest the boiler may have a potentially dangerous fault and an engineer should be contacted immediately.
